* Photoshop has a program interface that looks a little like DOS. You start by opening a dialog window and selecting File → Open to open the first document in Photoshop. You then go through the menus to get to the tools you want to use.
Figure 1-6 provides an example of the various menus you see in Photoshop.
After you open the first document, you have a full-screen image area. The image area can be seen in the figure at the left.
In Figure 1-7, we zoom in on an area of an image we will use to create a stained glass mosaic effect. As you can see in the figure, the image appears with plenty of white space around it. This type of image file can be imported from your scanner or camera.

Figure 1-8 shows the Layers panel, which is where you create your new layer and apply the filter for this book’s mosaic effect. In this figure, all the objects and tools are in the background of the Layers panel. You use the Layer palette to create a new layer and then open the Layer dialog box to drag and drop items onto that layer.

When you bring an image into Photoshop, it becomes its default layer. In Figure 1-9, you can see that the image I imported is set as the active layer.
You can see that the canvas appears empty. In the figure, the Layers palette, the Move tool, and the Clone Stamp tools appear, but the image is not yet active. You can see that these tools are active in the Layers panel and that they’re highlighted.
Let’s start adding objects to this image. In Figure 1-9, you can see that there are three tools highlighted. One is the Move tool. Drag a picture from the Canvas to move it and then place it on the canvas. I will use one of the picture frames from the two-color mosaic project, shown in Figure 1-7.

In scientific research, data visualisation is a key element to support exploration, discovery and best practice. Visualisation has many benefits including the ease of interpretation of information and the immediate feedback it provides. In order to benefit from these additional advantages, researchers may need to perform data visualisation in a variety of different software tools. Even though there is no universal definition of what data visualisation is, it is generally defined as an interactive representation of data that allows for various forms of exploratory data analysis, with the goal of communicating complex information to various audiences. There are many software tools that support data visualisation, including: Tableau, VizGlue, Spotfire, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, R and its suite of tools. The most commonly used software tools are Tableau and VizGlue. Each one has its own advantages over the others. The aim of this study is to compare and contrast the interfaces of Tableau and VizGlue in order to identify their similarities and differences. This will aid in the design of future data visualisation tools and ease their implementation into routine research practices.
Methods
=======
Two Data visualisation experts independently compared the interfaces of the Tableau and VizGlue visualisation tools using a number of criteria. These criteria were initially determined after a literature review. They are: a) usability, b) the ability to connect to the data it holds, c) the ability to generate visualisations, d) the ability to make information available to multiple audiences and e) the ability to do visualisation across multiple datasets. Qualitative data collection was carried out.
Results
=======
After the initial comparisons the lists of similarities and differences were collated. The Tableau and VizGlue interfaces were then analysed using the data collected on the similarities and differences. A series of thematic analysis were then conducted to compare the features of Tableau and VizGlue.
Conclusions
===========
Currently, there is not a standard interface that both Tableau and VizGlue have in common. In fact the interfaces are very different, supporting different interactive paradigms. Many of the tools that are similar also support different visualisation types. Many differences can be seen with features such as the ability to adjust interactivity to suit the audience and the ability to do dynamic visualisation of changes. 2. Description of the Prior Art
In general, in a computer system which includes a computer chassis, a computer processor is disposed in the chassis, a computer motherboard is provided in the chassis, and the computer processor, the motherboard and peripheral devices are interconnected with each other via a bus. Some computer systems may further include a power cord for supplying power to the computer processor from an external power source. The power cord is a flexible tube which may be coupled to the power source and then inserted into the computer enclosure. In particular, the power cord must be “humped” over a large range of angles so as to optimize the efficiency of power transfer from the power source to the computer processor. This requires that the power cord be “humped” over a significant range of relative angles in both the base and cover. The base may further include a power receptacle for receiving and holding the power cord at an appropriate angle.
