The Menu Viewer can be used in two ways:
Windows (XP, Vista, 7) only:
You need to tell the Menu Viewer, that you use Windows. That is done by double clicking the short cut to the Menu Viewer (Winkey+R, type cmd, enter). In the file explorer then select Menu Viewer. Go to the options dialog (Winkey+O) and select the platform “Windows”. Then Exit.
All other platforms:
It will work out of the box.
You can configure the Menu Viewer as you see fit in the options dialog. That is done by selecting Edit, click on the Configuration tab, and modify the appropriate settings.
When the Menu Viewer opens, it shows you a desktop thumbnail of an image file. You can click on the thumbnail, and then you will be presented with a dialog, where you can select the image. Right-click on the image, and a context menu will open. There you can select an image tool that you want to use on the image, and then click open.
If you want to make the same image tools available in the context menu of the desktop, you need to set “Enable desktop tools” in the settings for the Menu Viewer (see screenshot). You can also enter file and folder shortcuts, as well as image files, in that way.

It is easy to install the Menu Viewer in Windows XP.
To do this you need to copy the.dll file in to a directory of your choice, along with the.manifest file.
The.dll is a resource-based plugin and will not work if installed in the GAC.
The.manifest file is a description of the extension, and its default.dll should be at:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\Plugins\2-Stye\MenuViewer.dll
The below description is for Win XP, but works the same way for Vista/Win7:
1. Create a directory for your MenuViewer.
2. Copy the MenuViewer.dll to the directory you created in 1.
3. Copy MenuViewer.manifest to the same directory.
