Gradle: DefaultGroovyExcludesStrategy does not work as expected
I am trying to exclude several dependencies from build of my project. I use Gradle 1.10.
I can exclude them in build.gradle file, using:
compile group: ‘com.mycomp’, name:’some-library’, version: ‘1.2’
But when I try to do the same, but with DefaultGroovyExcludesStrategy, it does not work as I expected. To be more specific, when I use DefaultGroovyExcludesStrategy with the following block of code in my build.gradle:
configurations {
allCompile.exclude module: ‘javaee7’, module: ‘javaee6’
allTestCompile.exclude module: ‘javaee7’, module: ‘javaee6’
compileOnly.exclude module: ‘javaee7’, module: ‘javaee6’
testCompileOnly.exclude module: ‘javaee7’, module: ‘javaee6’
}
Then I expect to compile the jar file, but the assembly plugin does not do that and instead throws the following error:
org.apache.maven.plugin.assembly.DependencyConvergenceException: failed to read [META-INF/spring.handlers] from class path resource [META-INF/spring.handlers/spring-context.xml]:
at org.apache.maven.plugin.assembly.AssemblyMojo.execute(AssemblyMojo.java:642)
However, if I remove the DefaultGroovyExcludesStrategy, it works fine.
Is there any way to exclude the same dependencies using DefaultGroovyExcludesStrategy? I found nothing related to such issue in the documentation.

This looks like a bug in the current version of Gradle.
The configuration you have in your question would be the configuration that would be run when a compile task is executed, not when a test compile task is. Hence the problem.
I have tested this in the following build.gradle:
