I finally got around to installing this. As it turns out, I was running Ubuntu, and not Linux. This might have something to do with the lack of available Linux.apx testing programs. Anyway, Ubuntu (or Linux or whatever) does run a slightly different version of Python, and General ABX Test was incompatible.
So, I grabbed the RPM for the Gnu-GPL 3.00-preview3-2008-06-30.src.rpm, and installed it. Much to my amazement, it runs fine.
Of course, I still can’t compare results, but I’m sure there will be at least one person who would gladly pay me to write a simple C++ program that uses MP3StreamReader to parse an MP3 file and compare it against the various encoders…
