A concept is a concept/concept description pair where the former is attached to the latter, providing contextual meaning for the concept; for instance, the word “participant” is attached to the concept “woman”. Consequent concepts are attached to consequent concepts (concepts attached to other concepts), thereby representing dependent relationships; for instance, the concept “distinguished professor” is attached to the concept “professor”, representing that the former belongs to the latter.

An EXMARaLDA template is a set of XML files used to generate EXAKT data. EXMARaLDA comes with one sample EXAKT template that includes sample data for each part of speech. Users can generate additional templates by following the instructions in EXMARaLDA tutorial. The EXMARaLDA user manual includes instructions on how to use the EXMARaLDA parts of speech lexical database.
The EXMARaLDA part-of-speech lexical database is released under the GNU Free Documentation License. The source files are included in the binary package. The user manual is available here.
