Introduction to the applications
The first thing you might want to do after installing Photoshop Elements is configure it as your default program for opening JPEGs. (For that, go to File > Preferences.) This needs to be done every time you start Photoshop Elements, so you should be able to find that in your System Preferences.

Now that you have a JPEG file open, you might want to specify the Image size, a default resolution of your choice that is used when opening images. (See Image size.)
Resize the image
When opening an image in Photoshop Elements, you will see a smaller version of the selected image with tool tips. (See Tool tips.) The Tool tips will let you resize the image. The image will be resized in one of three ways:
Larger.
Resize to fit the aspect ratio.

I found myself sitting alone on the House River Parkway at night, staring out at the lights of downtown Milwaukee in the distance. The Milwaukee sky may not be the most dramatic view in the world, but it’s peaceful in its way. Like a hot summer night in the city with the first hint of fall in the air, the moon hung high, shedding golden light across the pines and the water and the city. It was one of those nights I didn’t have anyone I wanted to see or do anything with, but still, I didn’t want to go home.
So I stayed up late, alone, among the stars.
I started to think about my life, the life I was living, the life I wanted to live. I thought about the massive upheaval I saw coming for a lot of people, people like my grandmother and her generation, and how they felt they had no choice. They had to go along with what was happening, whether it was out of genuine enthusiasm, a desire to see the brighter side of life, or because of their simple desire not to get trampled.
I think about all the people I know who work in the restaurant business, all the people I met at Z’s, and all the people who work in other lower-paying and less glamorous jobs. There’s a little more chaos in your life than you’d think, but people around you show up.
I hope they keep showing up. I hope no one gets left behind. I hope there’s someone there who will lift you up when you are down, and remind you that hope is the thing with feathers.
And I hope a lot of people find peace in spite of everything. I don’t know if that’s possible, but I keep hoping.
