Then I want to change it back in the right order.

I can get it to work for the 192.168.0.1 part, but not the remote.device.subnet.
Both of those things need to be the same as they are there already.

The first / matches the beginning of the /etc/hosts, \s*\1 will match the first line/or a blank line after 192.168.0.1 is found.
The substitution replaces the matched text with the desired text.
