Creating and Saving files in Photoshop

Photoshop is very popular because it’s the only program you can use to create an image at the same time you are creating a brand new file. You can use the original file as a template for your editing and use the new one for the final image, or you can save both the original and the finished image together to create a file with two different versions of the same image.

The most common reasons to do a two-step process when working in Photoshop are to improve or correct images in one round of edits and to use the same image on two separate occasions as its own template for future changes.

Keep in mind that when you create an original file in Photoshop, you are essentially creating an image that will become a template for any subsequent changes you make.

Making changes to an image in Photoshop

You can make changes to existing images in Photoshop using layers, often called adjustment layers. Changing an image’s colors, contrast, and sharpness are known as adjustments. In this example, you’ll be adjusting the three different aspects of the image in detail.

Adjusting color

This example of adjusting colors is a shot of a clear blue sky. When you enlarge the image, you’ll notice that there are many colors and tones in the picture. You’re going to sharpen the colors in the photo. To do so, click the Eraser tool (not shown) to create a new Erase area. Use the Eraser tool to select the areas of the sky that should be eliminated. To edit the color of the sky, use the options on the Adjustment panel. You can even change the hue and saturation values for the sky to cool the image. Click OK.

I created this color example with the purple, gray, and white adjustment layers (refer to Figure 11-2). Click the uppermost layer in the Adjustment layer panel to select it. On the options bar, as shown in Figure 11-3, click the Curves button (the arrow at the bottom right).

I have a query that has 5 different reports, I want to use the GROUP BY on 1 of the reports so that I can get the count of how many records in that report, but i think if I use a static string on my GROUP BY it doesn’t work, I need to change the result of the query, so I can get the required result:

Shopbop.com, the fashion e-tailer, announced today that it has acquired fashion retail brand-label Meimai, a fine-lifestyle brand that caters to the urban urban hipster. Meimai will continue to operate as an independent brand and will have its own distinct website and retail stores.

The announcement comes only a few weeks after the same media company known for its digital media platform Shopbop announced the sale of 50 percent of its fashion-luxe e-tailer fashionboutique.com and its subsidiary retail sites, Blowfish, for $30.6 million to J. Crew owner Ascena Retail.

This is the latest in a long line of digital fashion brands that have sold to companies like Meimai; luxury clothing retailer Liberty of London also sold to Shopbop earlier this year.

As Shopbop tries to compete more in-store with luxury brands like Gucci, the acquisition of Meimai adds to that evolution. In addition to the Meimai signature store in Los Angeles, the brand also has locations in Tokyo, Shanghai and London. Meimai’s customers include Angelina Jolie and Khloe Kardashian, according to the announcement.

“We’re thrilled to have Meimai join the Shopbop family,” said Scott Shellen, co-founder and CEO of Shopbop. “The company’s strong design reputation and powerful online presence make it a perfect complement for our existing international offering.”

Meimai’s director Tony Siju notes that Shopbop’s e-commerce and retail strategy is much in line with his own in that it reaches an international clientele on its sites across the world. Meimai, he said, was founded to design for a global audience.

“We share Shopbop’s values and vision, and are extremely excited to work with them,” Siju said. “We’re thrilled with the Shopbop brand and I know we will do great things together.”

The site will continue to host the independent Meimai label. A representative for Shopbop provided this statement:
