1. See what kind of edits you can make
Photos are often edited in Photoshop to improve the aesthetics of the image. You can use this tool to find out what changes you can make to a photo.
If you take the photo-editing step before you begin editing, you may not notice many new possibilities. However, if you edit later, you can discover new edits. The changes can be positive or negative, depending on the image.

Our findings highlight a new problem that is common in inferring phylogenetic trees from gene trees. Several studies in the literature have argued that ML-based methods may lead to incorrect inferences in instances where gene trees do not represent the evolutionary history of a set of taxa (e.g., [@msw215-B8]; [@msw215-B9]; [@msw215-B6]). This problem may arise when the taxa do not share a long evolutionary history (e.g., as in hybridization-driven gene trees), when the mutation process is not conservative and allows the accumulation of ancestral polymorphisms, or when the taxa are not closely related to each other. These situations may be common in gene trees that have been derived from duplicated genes (see [@msw215-B5] for a recent example).
