The Great Dane
THE SKETCH
Below is an example of the concept sketch for the Great Dane.
The initial drawing was done in Adobe Illustrator and we wanted it to look like a genuine postcard style dog. As you can see in the image below, the outline was made in the shape of a dog, and with the letter “G” and an action of “Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.”
We wanted the nose to look like a snout and the eyes to look like slits, so we added a black rectangle with the shape of a dog head, in order to achieve the desired effect, as we can see in the image below.
We started the background with a gradient for the color and shape of it, which we also need to add a black rectangle to get the desired result.
The border effect of the above image was achieved with the help of the “Border > Interior Border > Vertical” and “Border > Interior Border > Horizontal” commands and the “Drop Shadow” effect.
Finally, we added more details, like the eyes, the ears and the nose, which gives the dog a resemblance of a real postcard-sized pet.

We also wanted to create the background of the postcard, so we used a photo of someone’s dog in their garden.

I have rows of GeoLocation coordinates (Lat-Long). I need to create a table in SQL Server which will contain a decimal degree column. I tried the following query:

I ended up creating a CLR function which accepts the lat-long parameter and converts it to the decimal degree range that I need. It was working well and simple to implement.

Consultancy firm EY says its survey of the world’s economies showed the UK is set for a period of economic ‘tough’ growth, echoing similar warnings from the Bank of England.
According to EY, the UK economy will grow by 2.4 per cent this year, while the French economy will grow by 1.3 per cent.
