What happens is that when you are sharing a folder with a relative path, it actually resides in your profile path, which is C:\Users\username\ (program files for XP) and C:\Documents and.
My setup displays a window displaying such a relative path as the login path, thus confusing users even more.

You might actually not be the owner of the folder.
Please try to access the properties of the folder to find out who is owner and test that.
You are getting this error because the folder has no permissions for the user whose login id you are logging into.
Trouble 1:
1. Open the folder from explorer using the icon.
2. Right click on the folder and choose Properties
3. Click on the Security tab.
4. Click on the Advanced button.
5. Click on the Owner button.
6. Check the box next to Show only myself.
7. Click ok.
Trouble 2:
You also need to give the folder the read and execute permissions for the user.
1. Right click on the folder again.
2. Click on the Properties button.
3. Click on the security tab.
4. Click on the Permissions button
5. Check the box next to Read
6. Check the box next to Execute
7. Click ok
If you see the two troubles, it means you are the owner.
If you do not see the two troubles, you are not the owner.
Please test with a test user or the administrator.
We can change the permission settings for a folder only if the folder is open in the file explorer window.
If we close the folder, we can no longer change the permissions.
You can either update the settings using a tool like CCleaner or you can allow users who know how to change the settings to change the settings for you.
Which would you prefer?
CCleaner is a good tool but it requires a lot of disk space.
You may also opt for setting the permissions for the folder using a tool like True File Properties.
